Indigo’s Grand Adventures | My Herd is Splitting

So, I’ve told you before that I’m an ACD [Australian Cattle Dog] and I know you realize that means we were bred to herd cattle, right?  When you have the really important job of herding anything – cattle, people, whatever…part of your job is to keep them together.  I mean you certainly can’t herd stuff if it’s spread out all over the place.

But my people do this to me all the time – they don’t stay together.  They’re splitting my herd.  Aargghhhhh.

One morning, my mom decided she just had to take some shots of me with her phone – she says apologies on the quality – when I was trying to keep my herd in sight for as long as possible.

Well, at least you can see how pretty my markings are…

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Cafe Madrid

So, our first night in Dallas we went to this Spanish Tapas restaurant [hope you know what that means, because I don’t] called Cafe Madrid.  It was hot, but there was a nice breeze and I was really surprised because there were other people sitting outside with us…I didn’t expect that…For some reason, I’m not allowed to go INSIDE restaurants so we always have to eat outside.  But since it was hot outside, I thought everyone else would be eating inside.

It was our first time going to this restaurant…my people really liked it and the waiter brought me some awesome chicken!  So, I got a treat too.

I was laying down minding my own business, and then guess what?  People came walking by and wanted to let my people know how pretty they thought I was…Oh well, what can you expect when you’re a gorgeous Australian Cattle Dog?  They talked about my blue eyes and my markings – some of my best features,  I must admit.  LOL.

All right, my mom won’t leave me alone.

She says I have to tell you what a Tapas restaurant is…sigh. Mom says the dishes are appetizer size and meant for sharing, and she says the flavors are wonderful and varied.  Huh?  Anyway, they liked their tapas and I liked my chicken.  What else do you really need to know?  I’m sure you can find it on the web and check it out sometime…who knows, maybe you’ll even get to see me!

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | The Lumen

Oh, I just love The Lumen!  They know how to treat a dog right…LOL.  My people seem to like it too.

So, why do I say this?  Well, first, they allow dogs with no extra fees, my mom says.  Not sure what that means, but it makes her happy…and you know what they say about mom being happy, don’t you?  Then, they ask your name when you arrive and would you believe this – somebody actually brought up a bag with My name written on it.  I mean, wow.  They didn’t bring anything for my people, just me!  And you know what was in it?  Treats for me and poop bags so my people could clean up after me.  My mom always has some with her, but extra never hurts.

It’s nice and quiet in the room and they don’t mind if I get on the bed.  As you can see…I’m not sure I think this photo of me relaxing is the most flattering one my mom could have picked, but oh well.  I mean, we WERE there to relax, right?  I also really like the windows – they go almost all the way to the floor, so I can keep an eye out for what is happening outside.  And since it is July, and it’s HOT, we spent a fair bit of time in the room just being.  I like just being with both my people – it’s pretty awesome.

And my mom says I need to tell you it’s in Dallas across from SMU – it’s part of a group called Kimpton Hotels.  She’s so picky about this!

Next week I’ll tell you more about where we went to eat while here in Dallas – I got some really good stuff!android-icon-96x96

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Paciugo

So, this was pretty cool…literally.  Hah!  We were in Fort Worth off 7th and mom asked them if I could come in to this gelato store.  And they said ‘yes’!  I was pretty jazzed because it was hot outside, and I was sitting with my dad on a bench while my mom was inside asking for permission to bring me inside.

My mom wanted me to lay down on this really comfy floor by the door so that I wasn’t close the ice cream…sorry, the gelato.  Not sure what the difference is exactly, but I love ice cream!  My people only let me have a little so I don’t get sick. Between you and me, I’d eat so much I would get sick if they let me.  I REALLY love ice cream.  And I don’t mean to offend anybody, but the gelato tastes like ice cream to me.  LOL.  Once they were mostly done, they left me a little in the cup, and oh boy, was it awesome.

My people really liked it too, so go check it out!

And I probably don’t even have to tell you this, but all sorts of people told me how pretty I was, and asked my mom if they could pet me.  So, I got a lot of attention, and I enjoyed it too because I love going inside new places.  When I see doors, I just want to go through them.  I mean, what’s the point of having them if I can’t go inside?

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | wag canine emporium

My mom found out from Lesley at Cowtown Canines about this place called wag in Fort Worth near 7th.  She said they had awesome baked treats for dogs, and she was right!  My people bought me a peanut butter cup – oh, it was gone too fast, but it was amazing!  I want to go back again and get more!

But, they have more than baked treats – it’s a store that has all sorts of stuff that I liked – treats, toys, food, collars, harnesses…my mom bought me a toy that floats.  My people said they’ll see if I want to jump in to get it the next time we’re at zBonz.  I haven’t decided yet how I’ll deal with that…

My mom talked for a bit with the woman working that day – she was really nice!  I hope we get to go back – I want another peanut butter cup!!!!!

And it’s certainly no coincidence that my mom asked me to sit in front of all the buckets that said ‘good dog’ to take my photo!

Okay, so my mom reminded me I’m supposed to tell you how to find it…it’s called wag canine emporium at 1005 Foch Street in FW.  Their number is 817.877.4924 and they’re open every day…

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Flower Market

I’ve mentioned before that I really like to smell flowers…my mom usually isn’t fast enough with her camera to catch me, but I really like to smell them… LOL

I know I’ve told you my mom likes to shoot flowers, and there is this great flower shop that is dog friendly.  They even have a picture of a dog on the front door and it says they are dog friendly.  I mean, how cool is that? So I went in with my mom, and the people that work there are really nice.  They wanted to pet me and told me how pretty I was…

But, the absolute BEST part, is when you go back where the flowers are – it’s really cold.  My mom said that’s to keep the flowers fresh, but it feels really, really good when it’s hot outside.  And the day we were there, it was HOT outside.

So, my mom asked me to sit down near some of the flowers so she could show you that I was really there.  And, she bought some flowers, of course.  The other photo shows the flowers she bought and the store’s window.

This place is called the Flower Market and it is on 7th in Fort Worth.  If you need flowers, check them out…

I know we’ll be going back!

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Going Home with Brittany

Ok, so I want to be clear.  I LOVE Brittany…I really, really do.

But her truck sucks for me.  My mom had told me I was going to go home with Brittany one night so she could go do a workshop, but seriously?  In this truck?

You can tell from my expression I am not happy. My mom calls them my Yoda ears when I drop them off to the side.  She knows I’m not a happy camper when she sees them.

But, in all fairness, I had fun with Brittany’s kids once I got out of her truck…and she didn’t bring me back to Cowtown Canines in the truck, fortunately.  Ugh.

I know I’ve already told you about how I go to Cowtown Canines and how much I love Brittany…not sure I told you that sometimes I get to go home with her when I can’t be with my people – but this is the first and hopefully the LAST time I’ll go home with her in this truck.  I can’t even jump up by myself – what’s up with that?

And then, she took these pictures – they’re not very flattering!

I really don’t think it’s right that my mom posted these photos!  Not my best moment…

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Levitt Pavilion

So, a friend had told my mom about Levitt Pavilion in Arlington – they host 50 free concerts every year. To be honest, it doesn’t mean much to me that it’s free, but my mom was excited…  It’s outside and when she checked out the website, she found out they allow dogs!  So, last night was our first time, and we listened to a band from Austin called Micky & the Motorcars.  I have to confess it was a bit hot, but I liked hanging out with my people on the grass…There were quite a few other dogs, and if I say so myself we were all pretty well-behaved.  Which is a good thing, ’cause mom says you have to be in order to stay.  I got a bit upset [my dad saw me curl my lip and didn’t know why] when another dog got way, way, way too close to my dad.  I mean, he’s my dad!  So, don’t try and poach!  My mom could see why I was upset, and do you know what she did????  She didn’t make the other dog move!!!!  That was just wrong – she just told me I had to chill.  Huh!  Anyway, the dog got my drift and everything settled down again.

I didn’t like it at all when my mom left us to go take some photos of the band – but I was really happy when she came back.  And I was ALMOST successful – I was in stealth mode, but my mom saw me…oh, I forgot to tell you what I was trying to do – sorry.  There was this really nice man sitting next to us on the ground and I thought he had a cup with ice cream.  I LOVE ice cream, and I thought I might be able to score.  Oh well, maybe next time…

You should check it out if you and your humans like music.  Mom says to let you know that the website is www.visitlevitt.org.  They have concerts through mid-July [I did tell you it was outside, right?] and then they have more in the fall…

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Clark Gardens

You should know by now I love going places with my people, and fortunately my people like going places with me too!  My mom found out about Clark Gardens through a friend, and since she really likes to photograph flowers [only have to check out the gallery under Fine Art to see I’m not lyin’] she was looking forward to checking it out.  But then, she found out they allow dogs. I mean, how cool is that?  None of the other Gardens allow dogs – so yeah, we were ready to go!

My mom said I should tell you a little more about Clark Gardens so you can find it too.  There is a fee to enter [but sorry, I don’t know how much my people paid to get us in], and the 50 acre garden is located at 567 Maddux Road in Weatherford. She says its not too far from Mineral Wells.  Their site is clarkgardens.org in case you want to check it out.

So, while my people were paying the fee to enter, I was watching in complete and utter disbelief as a C A T approached M Y car.  When I finally got out of my car, the cat ran under it.  I was just about beside myself at the insult!  And you know what – my people laughed at me!  Uhhh.  But anyway, finally the cat left and we went off to find out how to get into the gardens.

I absolutely loved the herb garden – it smells amazing…

And I think I’ve told you how much I love water – they had these really cool pools, and I almost snuck in more than once.  I was down on my knees just about to slither in when they caught me.  What a bummer…I never made it into the water…

Check it out sometime – different flowers bloom at different times and I think I can talk my mom into going back again soon!

Indigo’s Grand Adventures | Rodeo Goat

Oh, I love this place!

And I really surprised my mom, because as we got close to Rodeo Goat, there was a man walking a pig!  The pig was loose, and I could tell my people were waiting for me to react, but I didn’t…Hah, showed them! There were other people taking pictures of this guy with his pig, but I was more interested in relaxing at the restaurant.  But, I have to tell you, it was pretty funny because the pig didn’t have a harness or collar [not sure what you’d put on a pig though] and the pig decided it was going to sit down in the middle of the drive leading from the restaurant.  There was a car trying to get out, but it had to wait until the pig moved.  And when his human tried to move him, he just leaned back and refused to move.  But finally, the guy was able to get him to move…LOL

And once they let us in – they have to unlock the courtyard gate from the inside – we went in and I found a nice, comfy place to lay down.  I was really surprised because the general manager, Landon, came over with a nice big bowl of water for me.  How cool is that? And, he knew that I was an Australian Cattle Dog – he said he’s had dogs just like me before.  I knew I liked him!

My mom took the photo so than Landon was in focus and I wasn’t, but that’s ok.  The other photo shows me nice and clear…

Our waitress was friendly, and when my people ordered their lunch, they ordered me a plain burger, and it was awesome!  You probably care about how my people liked their food, and they really enjoyed it…My mom had a veggie burger that was gluten free [minus the bun – just like me!] and dad had a salmon burger.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure we’ll be going back!  If you want to go there too, it’s in Fort Worth at Bledsoe & Currie, and you can check them out at www.rodeogoat.com.

And if you go, don’t forget to check out the sign in the courtyard that tells you what they do with loose children.  It sounds hysterical, but I wouldn’t want to be there if it happens.  LOL
